Privacy notice
Last updated 7 October 2026
Revyz gives students formative feedback on A-Level essays. This notice explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. If you are under 16, please read it with a parent or guardian.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and a hashed password (or your Google account ID if you sign in with Google).
- Usage: how many reviews you have used this month, so we can apply the free limit, plus basic session details (IP address and browser) kept to keep your sign-in secure.
- Payment details: if you buy Pro, Stripe handles your card. We never see or store card numbers. We keep a Stripe customer ID and your subscription status.
- Your essays: drafts and review history are saved in your own browser, on your own device. They are not stored on our servers.
What happens to your essay
When you submit an essay for review, the text is sent securely to Moonshot AI, the provider of the Kimi model that generates the feedback, and the feedback comes back to your browser. We send only the question and your essay, never your name or email. We do not ask Moonshot AI to train on your essays, but it may keep inputs and outputs for a limited time under its own terms, and it may process them outside the UK. Please do not put personal details about yourself or others in an essay.
Why we use your data
- To run your account and deliver the service (contract).
- To take payment and keep the free limit fair (contract).
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse (legitimate interests).
- To send account emails such as verification and password reset. We do not send marketing email.
Who else handles data
We use a small number of service providers to run Revyz: Moonshot AI (AI feedback), Stripe (payments), our email delivery provider (account email), Google (optional sign-in) and our hosting and database provider. They only process data to provide their service to us. We do not sell your data and we do not show advertising.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept until you delete your account. Deleting your account from the account page removes your profile, sessions and review history from our database. Essays saved in your browser stay on your device until you clear them. Billing records may be kept for as long as the law requires.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, object to how we use it, or complain. You can export your essays and delete your account yourself from the account page. For anything else, email hello@revyz.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and remember your light or dark theme. No advertising or tracking cookies.
Changes
If we change this notice in a way that matters, we will update the date above.
